Representation
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the AMO,
One of the key differences that we, the AMC, have with our election opponents is on the issue of representation. We intend to represent you. We share your experience at sea and know what you want. We believe you deserve to be heard without fear of retaliation, political attacks, or outright refusal.
Under the current administration, AMO Representatives board ships to represent the administration NOT the membership. They do this by telling you the “party line” on the issues. We say the AMO Representative should be there to listen. Then, they should represent your concerns to the administration and to the industry.
Your right to representation is being abused right now by the current union officials who we seek to replace. They have tampered with union elections. Elected members are denied office and wages. Appeals, petitions and letters are brushed aside by administrative tactics.
We have already worked hard to represent your concerns. We fought for and won a new election because we brought membership protests to U.S. Department of Labor. A federal judge has agreed to hear our civil case in a fight for our rights and for protection of our funds.
The current union leaders fight the membership and scorn your needs. We, on the other hand, represent your causes. We represent your desires to improve wages and benefits, union democracy, and equal rights. We ask to represent you and work with you in union government, contracts, and industry. Elect us and you will have a true voice in the AMO.
We, the slate of candidates listed below, will, if elected, serve the AMO Membership with integrity and respect. We ask for your help and your vote.
Thank you and best fraternal regards,
JACK HEARN
